For Patients & Families
Patient Resources
If you or someone you love needs a kidney, you don’t have to just wait on the list. A living-donor transplant typically means a shorter wait, a kidney that works sooner and lasts longer, and surgery scheduled when you’re healthiest. Most people never find a donor because no one around them knows they’re searching — and that is something you can change.
The I KAN way
Our patient pathway pairs the DRIVE Framework — a week-by-week plan for telling your story and widening your circle — with the Living Kidney Donor Playbook, which gives your family and friends the words, tools, and templates to campaign alongside you. You never have to ask anyone to donate directly; you simply make your search known and let people step forward.
Good to know
Donors are carefully evaluated and protected by transplant centers, donation is only approved when it’s safe for the donor, and a donor’s medical costs are covered by the recipient’s insurance. Paired-exchange programs mean even a donor who doesn’t match you can still give you a kidney.
